Create A Beautiful Garden With These Great Tips

By Johnathan Black

Having a green thumb isn't the only way to be a good gardener. Many people think that the ability to raise a plant requires some kind of in-born talent that is given upon birth; however with the right knowledge, time, and effort, anybody can be a truly amazing gardener. This article will instruct you on the basics of gardening.

Never try to work with soil that is too moist. Extreme moisture levels can damage the soil's structure. This will make it difficult to work with and not as valuable to your plant's health. Soil should crumble a bit in your hand, and never stick together like a mud pie.

If you have specimen plants which need warmer climate zones than the rest of your garden, you can easily create a suitable space for them within your regular garden! Just create a shelter with a south facing wall which will become a solar collector, absorbing warmth in the day and releasing it at night, thus providing your specimen plants with the perfect environment!

You should put chives around flower beds as it is a natural insect repellant. Flies, aphids and other pests are easily repelled using simple herbs like chives. Chives can be grown or can be purchased as any grocery store. Place a generous amount around the roses and notice the bugs stay at bay.

A great tip to consider in regards to gardening is to be sure that you are protecting your skin when outside. This is important because long hours in the garden can potentially mean long hours of UV ray exposure. Wear a hat, loose clothing and protect yourself with sunscreen.

Consider the benefits of indoor gardening especially in the long winter months. Plants inside of the home can actually add decor to your environment as well as add moisture and oxygen to your indoor air. You don't have to add a lot of plants inside of your home to truly be able to make a difference, a few plants are more than enough.

Plastic garden labels can be used over and over again, by following this easy way to remove names written with permanent marker. Just dampen a small piece of cloth with rubbing alcohol and wipe firmly over the name to remove it. This way you won't have to buy a brand new bag of garden labels when you only need one or two.

Gardening is all about preparation. There's a certain amount of luck and random variability, but for the most part a good gardener is a smart gardener. Using the tips outlined in this article and applying them to your own personal plots, you can optimize any garden to its maximum bloom.
