What You Need To Know Concerning Irrigation Repairs
Nowadays many homes apply automated irrigation systems in their lawns. In addition, nearly all newly built residential homes are irrigated by use of automatic systems with permanently installed sprinklers. Advances made in technology have availed systems that require minimal irrigation repairs so as to serve their daily purpose.
Many irrigation problems are easy to work on though they should first be identified so as to be rectified. The best way of maintaining irrigation systems is undertaking inspection while the system is on. A problem encountered in many watering systems is clogging of sprinklers. This is caused by dirt or debris that gets trapped in the nozzle of a given sprinkler. In this case, little or no water will exit the nozzle when the system is put on.
When rectifying a spray type sprinkler, a number of steps are followed. First, you secure the riser of the sprinkler using a soft surfaced clamp. Use less force to secure the riser. To remove the filter from the body sprinkler, you may need a paper clip. Rinse filter and spray nozzle thoroughly before fixing it into its position.
The procedure for correcting damaged rotor sprayers is first removing its internals because the basket shaped filter is located at the bottom surface of the rotor body. This is usually achieved by unscrewing the top part of the rotor from the body by applying counter clockwise turns. Remove also the filter and rinse the filter thoroughly.
Worn out seals and sprinklers are what leads to most leaks. If the sprinkler body is located below ground level, the area around it should be dug out so as to free the body of the sprinkler from the soil. Clean the area where the new sprinkler will screw on so that soil will not be introduced into the system when the sprinklers are changed. Leaks often develop from broken pipe connections at the base of sprinklers, especially near streets and driveways.
High pressure experienced by valves can lead to leakages once the system is put into use for long time. If repairing an electric valve, waterproof connectors should be applied on all wire connections so as to prevent signal loss between it and the timer as a result of water damage. A valve that shows an external crack must be replaced.
There several ways through which your landscape system will become obstructed. Some plants may make it not possible to locate the location of pop up sprinklers. It is the duty of the person entitled to maintain the landscape to ensure that objects do not obstruct nozzles. New plants are supposed to be planted in accordance to the system design.
Missing nozzles is a common problem handled during irrigation repairs. Some are damaged by mowers or get detached once the system is put in use for a long duration. A missing nozzle leads to decreased pressure in other parts of your system causing non uniform sprinkling of water.
