An Essay On The Topic Of Tree Trimming

By Essie Osborn

It is very crucial to look for a proper care for trees growing within your property. The only way to have assurance that you are working with the right person is through engaging one of the many arborists who are accredited by the arboriculture association. If you visit the nearest office of the forest authority, you will be able to obtain a list of all licensed tree care firms as well as arborists for free. In order for the vegetation within your compound to remain healthy, safe and pleasing, then tree trimming should be done in the appropriate manner.

The fact that plants add to beauty of a landscape and increase its value shows the need of suitable trimming. In a situation whereby the plants within a given field are not trimmed, they will have poor healthy, there will be increased hazards and liability, the property will loose value and the long term maintenance costs will be elongated. Poor results and the high risk of accidents are the two main reasons why people should not involve themselves in self pruning. This is caused by lack of pruning skills and the required tools for work. It is therefore recommended that all trimming jobs be left for licensed arborists.

Removing weak branches and establishing a main stem will help achieve better structural strength of a pine. Research indicates that pines that have been subjected to training are structurally stronger as compared to those which were not. The chances of a plant that posses a strong structure failing are very minimal.

Starting pruning at early ages will make it possible to reduce the maintenance costs of a certain forest. In normal circumstances, a trained eucalyptus has a reduced number of branches than one which is not and therefore it will require less pruning. On addition, if branches of the tree to be trimmed are well spaced, the work of the person undertaking pruning will be easy. Unnecessary cost like the ones needed to cater for structural defects are avoided if proper pruning is done in time.

Pruning entails doing away with broken, dying, dead, damaged and diseased branches. The person undertaking the process is expected to inspect the canopy to see how well such branches can be cut away. In all exercises, a central leader should be selected and established. As there should be only one leader, it is the strongest and most vertical stem that is chosen and competing stems eliminated.

A well attached branch that lies within the desired height is taken to be the lower permanent branch. All the closely spaced branches are eliminated once this is identified. The existing standards suggest that the diameter of this branch to be not more than half that of the central leader.

Identifying the scaffold branches is another important step in pruning. The well attached branches located above the lowest permanent one qualify for this. The prevailing rule is that the scaffold branches to be properly distributed on the stem.

Successful pruning will only be achieved if safety precautions are obeyed. The firm hired to perform the task should provide its workers with protective clothes. The process should never be started if any hazardous conditions are present. Some of the common hazards in such fields include live electricity cables and stinging insects.
